Eligibility Criteria

The St. Mary/ Vermilion CAA Head Start Program is an equal opportunity program. Applications: This is an ongoing process. We accept applications year round for children meeting the criteria. You my apply at one of the following locations: Administrative Offices located at 1407 Barrow Street in Franklin and 1600 North State Street in Abbeville and there are ten centers throughout St. Mary Parish: Bambi Head Start Center, 20292 Hwy.90 Frontage Rd., Jeanerette Mickey Mouse Head Start Center, 105 TJ Hatcherson St., Baldwin Peter Pan Head Start Center, 1407 Barrow St., Franklin Snow White Head Start Center, 8931 Hwy 182., Centerville Cinderella Head Start Center, 109 Main St., Patterson Tweety Bird Head Start Center, 300 Patti Dr., Berwick Baby Bear Head Start Center, 10 Greenwood St., Morgan City Yogi Bear Head Start Center, 318 Wren St., Morgan City Winnie the Pooh Head Start Center, 120 Francis St., Amelia There are four centers in Vermilion Parish: Country Bears Head Start Center, 17100 Minos Rd., Abbeville Honey Bears Head Start Center, 1112 Main St., Gueydan Little Einstein Head Start Center, 294 Deussard Rd. LA Hwy 339., Erath Precious Moments Head Start Center, 100 North State Street., Abbeville Recruitment is an ongoing process. Slots are filled according to our selection criteria. Children not accepted for enrollment will be placed on a waiting list. To register your child, you must have the child’s original or certified birth certificate, up-to-date immunization card, social security number, and proof of income (such as Food Stamp printout, statement for TANF, or W-2 from the previous year). Child must be four or three years old before September 30 of the current year. We are committed to ensuring that the personal information you share with our program remains confidential. Any outside agency requesting access to your child’s file must have your written permission. We make every attempt to meet the changing needs of your family. It is our goal to ensure a smooth transition into our Head Start Program. In the event you wish to withdraw your child from the program, a drop form may be filled out with the child’s Family Service Worker or at the Central Office.
